Axess Technologies secures cable installation contract with Hellenic Cables for Ostwind 3

MOLDE, Norway, January 2, 2025 – Axess Technologies has been awarded a cable installation contract by Hellenic Cables for the Ostwind 3 project, located in the German Baltic Sea.

The scope of work encompasses planning and pulling internal platform cables into the offshore high-voltage (HV) substation, covering both 66 kV and 220 kV cable systems.

The engineering phase is already underway, with the execution phase scheduled to begin in Q2 2025 at HSM’s Stormpolder Yard in the Netherlands.

“This project is fully aligned with our strategy to become a turnkey supplier for HV cable pull-ins, terminations, and testing within the wind industry. It also strengthens our ability to deliver competitive high-voltage services to clients across Europe,” Erik Wold Aalde, Director of Renewables at Axess Technologies said.

Hellenic Cables is one of the largest cable producers in Europe, manufacturing power and telecom cables as well as submarine cables for various industries, including offshore wind and utilities, as well as undertaking turnkey power transmission and distribution projects.

Ostwind 3 is being developed by 50Hertz, a major European transmission system operator. The project will connect a segment of the Windanker wind farm area to the German extra-high voltage transmission grid. Once completed in 2026, a capacity of 300 MW of green energy will be supplied to the German grid, enough to power around 260,000 households.
